Nearly a century later in the fabled land of Hollywood, we now have a Marvel movie featuring a stellar cast of Asians. In Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Simu Liu is Shang-Chi and Shang-Chi gets to fight Tony Leung AKA the real Mandarin.
Now, if you are familiar with the ebb and flow, rhythm and pacing of songs or movies, you would have no issue in keeping up with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. You get Asians fighting Asians, Asians fighting non-Asians, Chinese mythology, fantastic creatures, displays of superpowers, comedic moments delivered by Nora Lum AKA Awkwafina, all backed by a solid cast of characters that we know and love for the most part.
Watch it if you want to experience an Asian Marvel movie. If you enjoy martial arts, you should get your fill of it too in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Otherwise, it is Marvel as usual. Do remember to stay for the two post-credit scenes.
I give Shang-Chi 77 onion rings out of 10 butter fingers.
