Pledging for a Democratic Singapore

Today is Cooling Off Day. Singaporeans will go to vote tomorrow, on 10 July 2020.

I believe that the Singapore National Pledge functions as an unsinkable ballast to steer the nation. It's been nearly two decades since I last recited the Pledge in school. I still remember it by heart.

We, the citizens of Singapore, pledge ourselves as one united people, regardless of race, language or religion, to build a democratic society based on justice and equality so as to achieve happiness, prosperity and progress for our nation. The Singapore National pledge

I hope Singapore turns out for the better and citizens maintain their fighting spirit. Come what may, we stand united. More than a cliche line, unity truly is strength. Such strength will see Singapore through dark, choppy, and dangerous waters.
